ISTANBUL, December 4. /TASS/. Turkey is making mediation efforts to release funding for the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) blocked in the US, Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said at a meeting with reporters in Istanbul.

"Some $2 bln has been stuck at JP Morgan for a very long time, and I think the Russians are discussing with the Americans the issue of releasing this money. We are also trying to play the role of an intermediary to help unlock those funds as they will be used directly within the project," he said.

Bayraktar expressed hope that "positive results will be achieved" in releasing funds for the Akkuyu NPP project.
