TEL AVIV, October 10. /TASS/. Israeli hostages will be released from the Gaza Strip on Monday or Tuesday, while Israel will free 250 convicted terrorists and 1,700 Gaza residents detained after October 7, 2023, Dmitry Gendelman, advisor to the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said.

"Israeli hostages will be liberated on Monday or Tuesday. In return, Israel will release 250 individuals convicted of terrorism and 1,700 Gaza residents detained after October 7," he wrote on Telegram.

"Twenty living hostages and the bodies of 28 hostages will be returned [to Israel] within 72 hours," he added. According to Gendelman, "Israel will transfer the bodies of 360 militants, with 15 bodies handed over for every deceased Israeli citizen."

Gendelman also said that the Palestinian prisoners who will be released from Israeli jails "will be sent to Gaza or beyond," while "those who had not lived in the enclave before committing their crimes will never be able to return to the Judea and Samaria Area (which is what Israel calls the West Bank - TASS)."

The Netanyahu office’s advisor noted that "the deal [was] approved by the [Israeli] government late [on October 9] without the security cabinet’s vote."

In the early hours of October 10, the Israeli premier’s office announced that the government had ratified "a deal to release all hostages, both living and dead."

US President Donald Trump announced on October 9 that Israel and Hamas had reached an agreement on the first phase of a peace plan following talks in Egypt. According to him, all hostages are expected to be freed soon, while Israeli troops will be withdrawn to an agreed-upon line.

Late on October 9, Israeli Government Spokesperson Shosh Bedrosian announced at a briefing that a ceasefire in Gaza would take effect within 24 hours of the government's ratification of the agreements. Israeli troops will then be withdrawn from central Gaza to an agreed-upon line in the enclave. Israel will maintain control of 53% of Gaza’s territory, Bedrosian noted. According to her, after that, "a 72-hour window" will open for the Israeli hostages to be returned, which is expected to happen by October 13.
