Israeli army begins preparations ahead of implementation of agreement with Hamas

TEL AVIV, October 9. /TASS/. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has launched preparations as part of an agreement reached between the Jewish state and the radical Palestinian movement Hamas, the Israeli military said in a statement.

"Following the political echelon’s instructions and due to the situational assessment, the IDF has begun operational preparations ahead of the implementation of the agreement. As part of this process, preparations and a combat protocol are underway to transition to adjusted deployment lines soon," the statement reads.

The IDF added that its troops continue to be deployed in the area and "prepared for any operational development."

Earlier on Thursday, US President Donald Trump stated that negotiators from Israel and Hamas had signed agreements on the first stage of his peace plan following negotiations in Egypt.

On September 29, the White House released Trump’s 20-point peace plan. Israel agreed to the first phase of the initiative. Hamas expressed readiness to release all living Israeli hostages and hand over the bodies of the dead ones.

According to the Ynet news website, the ceasefire between Israel and the radical Palestinian movement has come into effect.
