Kim calls on Korean Workers' Party to get rid of 'ignorance, incompetence' — media

SEOUL, October 9. /TASS/. During a visit to the Party Founding Museum, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un delivered a speech urging his party colleagues to eradicate all bureaucratic vices, including opportunism and abuse of office, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

"Our Party will accelerate the advance of the revolution, sweeping away all evil practices such as ignorance, incompetence, irresponsibility, self-protection, formalism and expediency, as well as arbitrariness, high-handedness and abuse of power which are rejected by the people and cause damage to socialism, the practices revealed among officials," Kim stated. "Only excellent cadres who live with the revolution, defend the revolution and lead their work correctly to the goals set, persons who are enterprising, heroic and staunch enough to brave any difficulties, can lead this current era," he added.

The North Korean leader emphasized that not only the attitude of party members toward the public, their moral character, and work style must change, but also their mindset and professional skills. He said he felt proud when recalling the history of the Workers’ Party of Korea in the very building where the political organization was founded. According to Kim, North Korea is marking the 80th anniversary of the party’s founding on the threshold of a new era of development and prosperity.

The anniversary will be celebrated on October 10, with a delegation from United Russia, led by its chairman Dmitry Medvedev, arriving in the country for the festivities.
