Moldova is a parliamentary republic. The unicameral parliament is the supreme representative and legislative authority of the country and consist of 101 members.

Among other things, it exercises control over the executive authority, approves the state budget, ratifies, suspends and denounces international treaties, adopts laws and regulatory acts and appoints referenda.
