BRUSSELS, September 19. /TASS/. The European Commission (EC) will soon put forward a new proposal to use Russian assets frozen in the West for Ukraine's needs, EC President Ursula von der Leyen said.

"We are working on a new solution to finance Ukraine's defense efforts based on the immobilized Russian assets. <…> We will come forward with a proposal soon," she said.

The assets themselves "will not be touched," and the risk will have to be carried collectively by the EU, von der Leyen added.
