US may provide Ukraine with ERAM missiles before year-end — CNN
The weapons have a range of 240-450 kilometers
NEW YORK, August 29. /TASS/. The United States may send more than 3,000 Extended Range Attack Munition (ERAM) missiles to Ukraine later this year, CNN reported, citing a source familiar.
The missiles could be delivered if the sale is concluded as expected. The weapons have a range of 150-280 miles (240-450 kilometers), CNN said. It remains unclear if there will be restrictions on their use by Kiev.
Earlier, the US Department of Defense announced that the Department of State had approved the potential $825 million sale of up to 3,350 ERAM missiles and related equipment to Ukraine. Kiev may use funding from Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway as well as money allocated to it by the United States earlier for the purchase. According to a statement released by the Pentagon’s Defense Security and Cooperation Agency, which oversees the delivery of military equipment and weapons abroad under intergovernmental contracts, apart from these missiles, Ukraine has also requested compatible navigation modules and jamming systems.
The US administration has already notified Congress of its decision to greenlight the proposed sale of these systems. Lawmakers will have 30 days to review the deal or block it.
