Finding an acceptable alternative to the radical Palestinian movement Hamas would be central, Barak Ravid wrote

WASHINGTON, August 29. /TASS/. Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair (1997-2007) and Jared Kushner, US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, will work together to develop a post-war plan for the Gaza Strip, Barak Ravid, a correspondent with Axios, reported, citing White House officials.

According to him, Blair and Kushner, who was a senior adviser to Trump during his first presidential term in charge of the Middle East, got the US leader’s "blessing" to intensify work on the plan to govern the Palestinian enclave. Finding an acceptable alternative to the radical Palestinian movement Hamas would be central, Ravid wrote, specifying this was the principled position of Israel also shared by the United States.

The ex-British prime minister and Trump’s son-in-law don’t have an answer yet as to who would take over the Gaza Strip instead of Hamas and ensure security there after hostilities end. While finalizing a plan may take time, the White House expects it to be ready when the Israeli military operation ends. By that time, the United States should lead the effort toward "an internationally accepted governance structure" in the Gaza Strip that would guarantee security to Israel and allow the Jewish state to pull out its troops from the enclave, according to Axios.

On August 27, Trump met with Israel’s Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer to hold talks on resolving the Gaza conflict. The meeting was attended by Blair, Kushner, US Vice President JD Vance, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, and several other senior US officials.
