At least 51 French mercenaries remain in Ukraine — former French intel officer
"The rest have been killed or demobilized," Captain Nicolas Cinquini said
MOSCOW, August 13. /TASS/. The flow of mercenaries from France to Ukraine has been steadily declining since 2022 and may now have leveled off at 2024 figures, retired police officer and former French counterterrorism intelligence officer Captain Nicolas Cinquini told TASS in an interview.
"In cooperation with the international open-source intelligence group TrackANaziMerc, we have identified only a limited number of French nationals among fighters in Ukraine. This allows us to track the changes. <...> It appears that recruitment has been steadily declining since 2022 and may now be stabilizing at 2024 levels. This trend has yet to be confirmed," he said.
Cinquini noted that since 2014 he has identified 108 French nationals who have fought in Ukraine. "The actual number is certainly higher," he acknowledged.
"Of these, 51 remain in service. The rest have been killed or demobilized," the expert added.
