LONDON, May 3. /TASS/. The right-populist Reform UK party has achieved the best result among all contenders in the UK regional elections; Sky News has released the final results of the vote count.

The outcome of the elections, involving 13.7 million UK citizens, determined the fate of 1,600 seats in 23 local government bodies across England, including county councils, unitary authorities, and city boroughs. Reform UK, founded by Nigel Farage, won control of ten councils and swept 677 municipal deputies into local government. Before the election, the Reformers did not hold a single mandate in the municipalities participating this year. Reform UK candidates also secured one additional MP in parliament and clinched mayoral posts in two of the six regions that elected office holders.

The Liberal Democrats came in second, gaining a majority in three councils and winning 370 mandates, an increase of 163 compared to their previous standing. The Conservatives suffered a crushing defeat, losing control of 18 councils and surrendering 677 mandates, leaving the party with just 319 seats. Labour, which currently holds national power, also lost its grip on all councils and gave up 189 mandates, retaining only 98. In ten councils, no party managed to win an outright majority.
