MOSCOW, April 2. /TASS/. An official visit of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam to Moscow on May 9 is in progress, Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son said.

"The main goal of our current visit is to prepare for an official visit of General Secretary To Lam to Russia at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin and also to participate in the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Russia," he said at the opening of talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

He added that the Secretary General "places significant importance on this visit."

Bui Thanh Son said that another purpose of his visit to Moscow and talks with the Russian foreign minister is to discuss cooperation between the countries in various sectors.
