Iran condemns military aggression against Yemen by US, UK-Iranian mission

Iran unequivocally condemns the recent military aggression against Yemen by the US and the UK, with these actions posing a serious threat to regional peace and stability, according to a letter by Amir Saeid Iravani, Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, to the Security Council chief and UN Secretary-General.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran unequivocally condemns the recent military aggression and unlawful use of force against Yemen by the United States and the United Kingdom. These actions flagrantly violate Yemen's sovereignty and territorial integrity, contravening international law, the United Nations Charter, and relevant Security Council resolutions, thereby posing a serious threat to regional peace and stability," according to the letter provided by Iran’s permanent mission to the UN to TASS.

On March 15, the US started to carry out massive strikes on Houthi facilities in Yemen based on an order from Trump. The US Central Command said that the goal was to defend American interests and restore freedom of navigation. In response, the Ansar Allah movement twice attacked the US aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman in the northern part of the Red Sea, using missiles and drones. According to the latest data from the Houthi health ministry, the US strikes on Yemen have killed 53 people and left at least 98 wounded.
