These consultations will be taking place at a critical time for the talks on a Ukraine ceasefire

BERLIN, March 14. /TASS/. Security advisers to the leaders of Germany, UK and France are heading to the US for talks, Die Welt reported, citing sources.

According to the newspaper, Jens Plotner, foreign and security policy advisor to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, urgently headed to Washington for talks on Friday.

The report said Plotner, along with the UK prime minister's national security advisor, Jonathan Powell, and the French president’s foreign policy adviser, Emmanuel Bonne, are set meet with US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz at the White House.

These consultations will be taking place at a critical time for the talks on a Ukraine ceasefire. The Europeans are not involved in the direct negotiations that US President Donald Trump's team has so far held with Russian and Ukrainian counterparts.

On March 11, the Saudi city of Jeddah hosted talks between the United States and Ukraine. As a result, Kiev agreed to support Washington’s idea for a 30-day ceasefire, and the US resumed providing intelligence and military assistance to Ukraine. The sides also agreed to sign a minerals deal as soon as possible.

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin received US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff late on Thursday and asked him to pass along a message to US President Donald Trump.
