White House says peace in Ukraine closer than ever before

WASHINGTON, March 14. /TASS/. The White House believes that Thursday's discussions on resolving the crisis in Ukraine was productive and, according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, the international community has never been so close to achieving peace in Ukraine.
"Yesterday was a productive day for the United States of America and for the world in terms of peace. We have never been this close to peace," she said.
US President Donald Trump wrote on the Truth Social network on March 14 that a "very good and productive" conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin took place on March 13.
Earlier, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Putin received US special envoy Steven Witkoff late on March 13, through whom the Russian leader conveyed information to his American counterpart. Peskov did not disclose the topics of the conversation between Putin and Witkoff. Leavitt said on March 12 the special envoy was on his way to Moscow to discuss settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
