Brussels to be isolated if it interferes with Ukraine talks — Szijjarto
Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations argued that it would be far more beneficial for European liberal leaders to advocate for peace rather than encourage Ukraine to prolong the conflict
BUDAPEST, March 14. /TASS/. European Union leaders may soon face international isolation if they persist in obstructing talks between the US and Russia regarding the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, according to Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations, Peter Szijjarto. He expressed these concerns while commenting on the EU's stance regarding the situation in Ukraine.
"If European liberal leaders continue to support the war and impede the success of peace negotiations, Brussels will very soon find itself isolated in the realm of global politics," Szijjarto stated in an interview with the M1 TV channel.
He argued that it would be far more beneficial for European liberal leaders to advocate for peace rather than encourage Ukraine to prolong the conflict. However, he lamented that, so far, the majority of EU countries have maintained a confrontational stance, as demonstrated by the community's "pro-war summits." According to Szijjarto, the participants in these summits show little interest in achieving a peace resolution to the Ukrainian conflict.
He cautioned that politicians who support ongoing hostilities in Ukraine are "playing with fire and increasing the likelihood of a third world war." Szijjarto urged them to abandon these efforts and to facilitate the creation of conditions necessary for a ceasefire and the establishment of a long-term peace agreement.
