PARIS, March, 11. /TASS/. The European Union has faced a security crisis, the existing system has experienced a deep shock, and Europe faces military decisions unthinkable even a few weeks ago, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said at a session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

"We are facing a crisis of European security. The European security order is being shaken, and so many of our illusions are being shattered," she said. "This is the moment for a common defense," she also noted.

She also said that at the previous EU urgent summit on March 6, a consensus on military solutions was reached "which was completely unthinkable only a few weeks ago."
