China will not pit one side against the other in Ukraine conflict — expert
China is neither the instigator of the crisis nor a party to it, dean of the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China Wang Wen stressed
BEIJING, March 7. /TASS/. China can play a crucial role in establishing the necessary international conditions for resolving the crisis in Ukraine. It will uphold a fair and peace-loving stance, refraining from becoming a force that pits one side against the other, according to Wang Wen, dean of the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China.
"Finding a way out of this crisis is a no easy task. Currently, we are still in the negotiation phase, with political maneuvering taking place prior to a ceasefire. China is neither the instigator of the crisis nor a party to it. What China can do is maintain a just and peace-loving position while fostering the necessary international conditions for multilateral cooperation," Wang told TASS.
These conditions include, but are not limited to, careful consideration and respect for the interests of all parties involved: "China will not act as a force that divides the conflicting sides; instead, it aims to promote a negotiated settlement and advocate for humanitarian measures as well as the prompt initiation of reconstruction efforts in the war zone," he stated.
Earlier, during a press conference attended by both Chinese and foreign journalists, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated that China's objective was to create conducive conditions for resolving the crisis, seek consensus, and support all efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful settlement.
