"The majority of the ongoing aid programs were close to expiration regardless," Mikhail Podolyak clarified

MOSCOW, March 6. /TASS/. Ukrainian officials are negotiating new shipments of weapons with the US, including missiles for Patriot systems, Adviser to Vladimir Zelensky’s office Mikhail Podolyak told the Polish Wirtualna Polska news portal.

"Of course, what we are mainly interested in is receiving missiles for Patriot systems, as this is a matter of protecting the population and critical infrastructure, but other types of weapons are also important to us. And these agreements are now on the table and under discussion," the adviser said.

"The majority of the ongoing aid programs were close to expiration regardless. These are presidential programs and programs authorized by the US Congress. Since some of them were expiring, we would have to undergo the procedure from the beginning anyway - negotiations followed by a vote in Congress," he clarified.

A Pentagon official told TASS earlier that the US Armed Forces had halted supplies of military aid to Ukraine. According to Bloomberg, the suspension concerns, among other things, weapons being shipped or awaiting shipment in Poland's transit zones.
