The sources revealed that the aid to Kiev was suspended to demonstrate Zelensky the seriousness of the US administration regarding the Ukrainian peace settlement

WASHINGTON, March 5. /TASS/. Washington and Kiev reaching an agreement on Ukrainian rare-earths may not be the only condition for US President Donald Trump to decide on resuming military aid to Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing senior US officials.

According to their assessments, "it is unclear if Zelensky’s statement will be enough to persuade Trump" to sign a deal with Kiev on the rare-earth minerals to allow the resumption of US military aid to Ukraine. The sources emphasized that "the pause will continue until Trump decides that Zelensky backs peace negotiations with Russia."

The newspaper’s sources also revealed that the aid to Kiev was suspended to demonstrate Zelensky the seriousness of the US administration regarding the Ukrainian peace settlement.

Earlier, a Pentagon spokesman told TASS that the US Armed Forces have suspended military aid supplies to Ukraine. According to Bloomberg, the suspension affects all US military equipment that is not currently in Ukraine, including weapons delivered by air and ship and awaiting further transportation in Poland’s transit zones.

Trump told Congress on March 4 that he had received a letter from Vladimir Zelensky saying that the head of the Kiev regime was ready for peace settlement talks on the Ukrainian conflict. Zelensky also emphasized that he was ready to sign a deal with the US on Ukrainian rare-earths, which had previously been suspended due to a dispute between Trump and Zelensky at the White House.
