NEW YORK, March 5. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump's speech to Congress has become the longest address by a US leader to the House of Representatives and the Senate, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing data from the American Presidency Project.

Trump's speech lasted about one hour and 39 minutes. Before that, Bill Clinton's speech in 2000 was a record, it lasted 89 minutes. Trump's last long speech to lawmakers was in 2019, and it lasted an hour and 22 minutes. The time frame includes applause and pauses.

Trump's current speech was not traditional: the address usually summarizes the year's accomplishments and reveals plans for the next year, but the US leader only took office on January 20.
