Trump's halting of arms aid to Kiev crucial to resolve Ukraine conflict — Japan’s lawmaker
Trump is acting with "unwavering determination and commitment to a ceasefire and peace," Muneo Suzuki said
TOKYO, March 4. /TASS/. The suspension of US arms supplies to Kiev is the key to a resolution of the Ukraine conflict, Muneo Suzuki, a member of Japan’s upper house of parliament, said.
"US President [Donald] Trump has decided to suspend arms deliveries to Ukraine. The fact that weapons are not being supplied is an important factor to the cessation of hostilities," he wrote on his blog. Trump is acting with "unwavering determination and commitment to a ceasefire and peace," Suzuki said. "I hope that a ceasefire will be reached as soon as possible thanks to Trump's strong leadership," he added.
On February 28, Vladimir Zelensky visited the White House for a meeting with US President Donald Trump. Their televised exchange, with reporters present, devolved into a shouting match, with Trump reprimanding that Zelensky was ungrateful to the United States for the support provided to Kiev, and Vice President JD Vance pointing out that Zelensky showed a disrespectful attitude towards the US. The press conference following their meeting was canceled, and the signing of an agreement on mineral resources between Ukraine and the US did not occur. At the same time, Zelensky did not apologize for his actions and words.
On March 3, Reuters reported, citing a White House official, that Trump had ordered to stop military aid to Ukraine. A Pentagon representative later confirmed this information to TASS.
Suzuki is known for his ties to Russia. He served as an advisor on various matters related to cooperation with Moscow during the tenures of two Japanese prime ministers, Shinzo Abe and Yoshihide Suga. In January, Suzuki met with incumbent Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, who visited the US in early February to meet with Trump, and discussed Russia-related matters with him.
