BERLIN, March 3. /TASS/. At least two people were killed and 25 injured as a result of a car hitting a crowd in the city of Mannheim in southwestern Germany, the Bild newspaper reported citing security sources.

Circumstances of the incident
- According to the Mannheim 24 portal, a black SUV was traveling at high speed from the Paradeplatz square towards the water tower and collided with a crowd.
- Rescuers are working at the scene.
- The police have urged residents to avoid traveling to the city center.
- According to the Bild newspaper, the driver of the car was detained.
- All roads and bridges leading out of the city are controlled by police officers with machine guns, and a helicopter is circling over Mannheim, it said.
