WASHINGTON, February 28. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump said the United States may abandon the idea of imposing duties on UK imports, and the two countries may agree on a free trade zone.

"In the case of these two great, friendly countries, I think we could very well end up with a real trade deal where the tariffs wouldn't be necessary. We'll see," Trump said at a joint news conference with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

In his words, trade negotiations between Washington and London are proceeding well. The US leader expressed hope that a trade deal may be reached as quickly as possible.
