According to the Russian foreign minister, this also applies to the "violation of the sovereignty of the Lebanese Republic"

TEHRAN, February 25. /TASS/. The situation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank is alarming and should be resolved based on UN Security Council resolutions, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a news conference following talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

"We have compared notes on other important regional developments. First of all, they are all aspects of the Middle East settlement. The situation in the Palestinian territories, not only in the Gaza Strip, but also in the West Bank, is very alarming," he said. "All the problems of the Middle East, as well as any other part of the world, should be resolved on the basis of the decisions that were taken by the UN Security Council."

According to Lavrov, this also applies to the "violation of the sovereignty of the Lebanese Republic." The situation in Syria also requires the constant attention of the international community, he said.

"Attempts to provide external support for the processes taking place inside Syria without the participation of such important countries as Russia, Iran and China are hardly consistent with the goal of uniting the nation, rather than dividing it from abroad, as was the case in recent years after the so-called Arab Spring," the minister said.
