NEW YORK, February 24. /TASS/. The United States has threatened the Group of Seven (G7) countries that it will withdraw its support for a joint statement on Ukraine due to its objection to several provisions on Russia, Bloomberg reported citing sources.

The US opposed the inclusion of language condemning Moscow that echoed previous G7 statements, and disagreed with a call for more energy sanctions to compel Moscow to negotiate a lasting peace, the sources said.

The New York Times on February 21 reported that the US administration is trying to prevent the joint G7 statement timed to coincide with the three-year anniversary of the start of a Russian special military operation in Ukraine from interfering with negotiations with Russia.
