Hungary against allocation of new tens of billions of euros to Ukraine by EU — Szijjarto
The Hungarian foreign minister confirmed thus what he said on February 20 about the upcoming meeting of foreign ministers
BUDAPEST, February 24. /TASS/. Hungary will not consent to allocation of military aid to Ukraine worth new tens of billions of euros by the European Union, as well as to rushing ahead with the extension of individual sanctions against Russian individuals and companies, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto said as he headed to Brussels for a meeting with his EU colleagues.
"We are against rushing ahead with the extension of the sanctions regime on individuals, we are against paying tens of billions of euros for weapons supplies, whereas regarding security guarantees, we are asking a question what security guarantees Ukraine needs, what security guarantees we, Hungarians, need," he wrote on his Facebook page (Facebook is banned in Russia due to its ownership by Meta, which has been designated as extremist).
He confirmed thus what he said on February 20 about the upcoming meeting of foreign ministers as he warned that Hungary would not support the decision to extend individual sanctions against Russia for another six months at the meeting as the country expected this to potentially hinder the Russian-US talks on Ukraine.
