Israel receives list of dead hostages to be returned February 20
The list includes Shiri Bibas, who was 32 at the time of the abduction, and her two sons, Ariel, who was four years old, and Kfir, who was only nine months old, as well as Oded Lifshitz
TEL AVIV, February 20. /TASS/. Israel has received from the radical Palestinian movement Hamas a list of names of four hostages killed in the Gaza Strip whose bodies will be handed over to the country on Thursday, February 20, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office reported.
"Israel has received the list of deceased hostages that are due to be released tomorrow, pursuant to the framework [of the deal with Hamas]. The Coordinator for the Hostages and the Missing, eserve Brigadier General Gal Hirsch, has updated the families of the hostages via the representatives of the Israel Defense Forces. At this difficult hour, our hearts are with the grieving families," the statement said.
The list includes Shiri Bibas, who was 32 at the time of the abduction, and her two sons, Ariel, who was four years old, and Kfir, who was only nine months old, as well as Oded Lifshitz, the Kan state broadcaster reported. Shiri's husband, Yarden Bibas, 34, survived and was released on February 1.
Representatives of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas first announced the death of Shiri Bibas and her children back on November 29, 2023. It happened, the radicals said at the time, "as a result of an Israeli strike on the Gaza Strip" during the country's military operation in the enclave, which had lasted just over a month by then. The Israel Defense Forces responded by accusing Hamas of "cruel and inhumane" actions and holding the radicals fully responsible for the lives and safety of the hostages. At the same time, the servicemen did not confirm or deny the claims that Shiri Bibas and her children had been killed, saying only that the army was "verifying the accuracy of this information.".
