US not going to reduce military presence in Europe — Duda
The Polish president made such statement after a meeting with US Presidential Special Envoy for Russia and Ukraine Keith Kellogg
MOSCOW, February 18. /TASS/. US representatives have informed the Polish leadership that Washington does not intend to reduce its military presence in Poland or Europe as a whole, Polish President Andrzej Duda stated after a meeting with US Presidential Special Envoy for Russia and Ukraine, Keith Kellogg.
"We were promised that there is no intention to downscale activity in our part of Europe or to reduce the strength of military personnel," Duda said at a news conference broadcast by TVP Info.
Last week, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth urged Europe to take responsibility for its own defense. In light of this and other statements from US administration officials, Europe has developed concerns that Washington might reduce its military contingent, although the White House has not officially announced any such plans. Currently, there are nearly 100,000 US military personnel stationed in Europe, including about 10,000 in Poland.
