CAIRO, February 6. /TASS/. Palestine’s Foreign Ministry will intensify efforts to thwart plans to relocate Gazans from the enclave, the agency said in a statement on the X social media platform.

"The Foreign Ministry alerts the occupation forces against committing the crime of forced relocation and annexation. We will continue working to ensure that the international consensus on the matter leads to concrete steps with the aim of preventing plans to relocate our people," the statement reads.

US President Donald Trump stated at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on February 4 that Washington was considering taking a long-term administrative role in the Gaza Strip to develop the enclave for the sake of peace in the Middle East. He called for relocating the enclave’s Palestinians to other countries of the region, which, in his words, could finance the costs. Trump also noted that the US was ready to send troops to Gaza if necessary.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced on February 6 that he had ordered the Israel Defense Forces to develop a plan to allow Gazans to voluntarily leave the enclave in line with Trump's initiatives.

Arab nations and several Western countries opposed Trump’s proposals. In particular, the French Foreign Ministry stated on February 5 that Paris did not accept the US leader’s ideas, while German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock described a potential expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza as unacceptable and inconsistent with international law.
