PARIS, February 6. /TASS/. The first Mirage 2000 fighter jets piloted by Ukrainians have been delivered to Ukraine, according to Sebastien Lecornu, French minister of the Armed Forces.

"On June 6, 2024, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France would send Mirage 2000 aircraft to Ukraine. Today, the first of these aircraft have arrived in Ukraine," Lecornu wrote on X.

According to him, the Ukrainian pilots have been trained in France to use the jets.

In early June 2024, Macron said that Paris is starting to provide training for Ukrainian pilots and also plans to approve the transfer of Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets to Kiev. While the pilot training program would take five to six months, the jets may start arriving later in 2024, he added. In October, Lecornu shared that the aircraft delivery was scheduled for the first half of 2025.

While Lecornu did not specify how many aircraft had been delivered, La Tribune reported earlier that France could send no more than six fighter jets to Ukraine.
