Brussels policy leading to EU isolation in global economy — Szijjarto
"The infamous activity of President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen resulted in the European Union’s entry into the new economic epoch having the worst position among the top players in the world economy," the Hungarian foreign minister stressed
BUDAPEST, February 4. /TASS /. The European Union has isolated itself from the United States and China, the two main economic global centers, and is losing to them in the competition, Hungary's Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said.
This has been the result of the policy pursued during the last five years by the European Commission headed by President Ursula von der Leyen, the minister noted. The main error of Brussels is in aspiration to solve economic issues by pursuing political goals, Szijjarto continued. "The result is that the European Union has currently isolated itself from two major players of the global economy - the United States and China," he said on the air with M1 television.
"We believe the infamous activity of President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen resulted in the European Union’s entry into the new economic epoch having the worst position among the top players in the world economy," Szijjarto stressed.
"The share of the European Union in the world’s economy fell from 22% to 17% over the decade, the United States continues moving further and further, and China reached and outpaced us," he added.
