North Korean leader congratulates Lukashenko on his win in Belarus’ presidential election

MINSK, February 4. /TASS/. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has congratulated Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on his January 26 electoral victory and expressed Pyongyang’s readiness to enhance cooperation with Minsk, Belarus’ president’s press service reported.

"I warmly congratulate you on your re-election as Belarusian president. Taking this opportunity, I also express hope for further development of friendship and cooperation between North Korea and Belarus in the interests of both countries and their peoples," a congratulatory message reads.

Lukashenko also received a congratulatory message from President of Kenya William Ruto, who noted that Nairobi stood ready to maintain strong cooperation with Minsk, thus contributing to the states' cordial bilateral relations and bringing benefit to Kenyan and Belarusian nations.

Earlier, Belarusian Central Election Commission Chairman Igor Karpenko said incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko secured the presidential election with 86.82% of the vote. The presidential election in Belarus was carried out at a high level, smoothly, contrary to what some in the West had predicted, Lukashenko stressed.
