Serbia’s Vucic suggests Trump may bring ceasefire in Ukraine closer
Aleksandar Vucic also believes that, under Trump, the White House "will not provide as much financial support to Ukraine as the current administration" of outgoing US President Joe Biden
BERLIN, December 27. /TASS/. Donald Trump could bring peace in Ukraine closer after his inauguration as US president in January 2025, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic told Handelsblatt in an interview.
"I believe that with Donald Trump, we will move closer to peace. This would also matter greatly to Europe and Germany, which does not seek to become embroiled in a war. Nor are we in Serbia seeking that either," the Serbian leader said. According to Vucic, "peace will be achieved only when the top global players engage in talks."
The Serbian head of state also believes that, under Trump, the White House "will not provide as much financial support to Ukraine as the current administration" of outgoing US President Joe Biden. The United States has benefited from the conflict by strengthening its position in the energy market, Vucic argued.
On December 16, the US president-elect stated that Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky should be prepared to agree to a deal to end the conflict. Additionally, the Republican suggested that, in his view, Kiev does not need to attempt to regain territory lost to Russia.
