SEOUL, December 27. /TASS/. South Korea’s parliament has impeached acting President Han Duck-soo, Speaker of the National Assembly Woo Won-shik said.
The impeachment was supported by 192 delegates with at least 151 votes required.
Legislators from the ruling party boycotted the vote.
Han has announced that he respects the parliament’s decision to impeach him, Yonhap reported.
He vowed that he would step down "in accordance with the law so as not to add chaos" to the country’s politics.
Now his case will be reviewed by the Constitutional Court which may take up to 180 days.
The authority of President Yoon Suk Yeol was suspended on December 14. Finance minister Choi Sang-mok is set to replace Han as acting president.
