Former Austrian minister names 4 suspect countries in connection with Nord Stream sabotage
Asked what countries could be behind the attack, Karin Kneissl replied that, like in an Agatha Christie novel, "there are many suspects in this imaginary room"
ST. PETERSBURG, December 24. /TASS/. Former Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl said she believes the UK, Norway, Ukraine and Poland are the main suspects in the sabotage attack on the Nord Stream pipelines.
The former diplomat, who now heads the Geopolitical Observatory of Russia’s Key Issues, or GORKI, at St. Petersburg State University, made the statement at a presentation of her book, Requiem for Europe, in a library.
Asked by a guest what countries could be behind the attack, she replied that, like in an Agatha Christie novel, "there are many suspects in this imaginary room."
"I don't know if we'll ever find out who the murderer is, if we'll have our own Hercule Poirot or Miss Marple. I think there are many suspects. At least three: Great Britain, Norway and Ukraine. And Poland could be added to the list. Maybe someone else," she said.
On September 26, 2022, three threads of the Nord Stream pipeline suffered unprecedented destruction. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Moscow had no doubt that the attack on the pipelines was carried out with US support. The Russian Prosecutor-General's Office started investigating the attack as an act of international terrorism.
