Trump’s election victory changed Western approach to Ukrainian conflict, adviser says
According to Mike Waltz, Trump has made it clear that the war must end
NEW YORK, December 23. /TASS/. Ukraine’s Western allies have switched from statements about their readiness to give free reign to the Kiev regime with regard to military aid to seeking ways of settling the conflict, following Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election, Trump’s future national security adviser Mike Waltz said in an interview with Ben Shapiro.
In his opinion, the general narrative has changed from providing any available resources to seeking a deal to end the conflict.
According to Waltz, Trump has made it clear that the war must end. "What’s been interesting is to see all of these shifts: both European leaders and Ukrainians, everyone, are about adopting that framework. So part of my job and our job with the team [Trump] has put together is who is at the table, how do we get people to the table, and then what’s the framework for an agreement that best meets our interest," he noted.
Waltz criticized incumbent US President Joe Biden’s approach to the conflict. According to him, the outgoing administration could not clearly define Washington’s goals in this situation. "All that they just wanted to talk about is more money. And stop asking us these annoying questions, like, you know, where’s this all going. And I do think it’s a valid question," Waltz concluded.
Earlier, Trump said that he was looking forward to the opportunity to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.
