"The historical experience of the 20th century should be a warning that Germany and Europe should never again get involved in a war," Alice Weidel said

BERLIN, December 16. /TASS/. Alice Weidel, a co-chair of the Alternative for Germany (AfG) party and candidate for Chancellor, believes that supplying Kiev with Taurus cruise missiles and sending German troops to Ukraine would turn the FRG into a direct participant in the conflict and make the country a target in case of nuclear war.

"Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock is fantasizing about deploying German troops to Ukraine, while Mr. Merz [CDU leader, CDU/CSU bloc candidate for Chancellor], has been speculating about supplying [Kiev] with Taurus cruise missiles, which would be tantamount to the risk of unleashing World War III," Weidel said in the Bundestag. "You are flirting with the threat of an escalation."

"German missiles in Ukraine that can reach Moscow and the idea of sending German troops to service them would turn Germany into a direct participant in the conflict and a target in case of nuclear war," the AfG leader warned. "The historical experience of the 20th century should be a warning that Germany and Europe should never again get involved in a war. This is our historical responsibility," she stated.

Weidel also pointed out that "instead of seeking channels of communication with Washington and Moscow, where the key to peace can be found," Merz recently traveled to Kiev to promise Ukraine more money.
