Akylbek Zhaparov steps down as Kyrgyzstan’s prime minister

First Deputy Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev was appointed acting chairman of the Kyrgyz Cabinet

BISHKEK, December 16. /TASS/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov has signed a decree relieving Akylbek Zhaparov from the post of the chairman of the republic's Cabinet of Ministers, the Kyrgyz leader's press service told TASS.

"Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov has signed a decree relieving Akylbek Zhaparov from the post of chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and head of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan," a representative of the press service said.

First Deputy Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev was appointed acting chairman of the Kyrgyz Cabinet, with his candidacy submitted to the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Supreme Council) for approval. In accordance with the law, the cabinet will not be dissolved and will continue its work.

Zhaparov led the government of Kyrgyzstan in October 2021. The republic's GDP has almost doubled in three years. While he was Kyrgyzstan’s prime minister, a number of major economic projects were implemented in the country. In particular, a car and truck assembly plant was opened with the support of the Uzbek side.

After the president of Kyrgyzstan removed Akylbek Zhaparov from his post, other staff replacements in the Kyrgyz government began. In particular, Ex-Minister of Economy and Commerce Daniyar Amangeldiev has been appointed first deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, his candidacy also submitted to the Kyrgyz Supreme Council.
