NEW YORK, December 15. /TASS/. Unknown aerial vehicles disrupted operations of the New York Stewart International Airport, Governor of the State of New York Kathy Hochul said.

"Last night, the runways at Stewart Airfield were shut down for approximately one hour due to drone activity in the airspace. This has gone too far," the governor said.

Congress should approve the bill enabling to build up efforts at a local level against illegal use of drones, Hochul noted. In the meantime, "the [US President Joe] Biden Administration must step in by directing additional federal law enforcement to New York and the surrounding region to ensure the safety of our critical infrastructure and our people," she added.
