According to the agreement reached, ABC News will pay $15 mln as a charitable contribution "to be made to a Presidential foundation and museum to be established by or for Plaintiff"
NEW YORK, December 15. /TASS/. ABS News television will pay $15 mln to US President-elect Donald Trump in a pre-trial settlement of the antidefamation action, according to documents posted in the electronic database of the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
According to the agreement reached, ABC News will pay $15 mln as a charitable contribution "to be made to a Presidential foundation and museum to be established by or for Plaintiff" and will settle Trump’s legal expenses of $1 mlb.
Trump sued the TV Channel and its presenter George Stephanopoulos in March 2024 for "false and defamatory" statements contained in the interview of Stephanopoulos with US Representative Nancy Mace as regards writer Elizabeth Jean Carroll, who had earlier brought charges of rape and slander against the President-elect.
The jury court in New York pronounced the verdict obliging Trump to pay $83.3 mln to Carroll on January 26, 2024. Trump repeatedly denied these charges saying that he had never met Carroll.
