TUNIS, December 11. /TASS/. The decision on further US military presence in Syria will be made by the people of the republic, Mohammed Alloush, a prominent Syrian politician and former head of the opposition delegation at the Syria talks in Geneva and Astana, told TASS.
"The issue of the US military presence will be considered by the people in terms of expediency and benefit to the nation," he said. Meanwhile, Alloush expressed hope that "Syria will become a country of local and global peace, without the presence of foreign military bases of any party there."
Mohammed Alloush is a founding member of the Jaysh al-Islam coalition, where he served as the leader of its political wing. In 2016, he was appointed chief negotiator for the opposition during the Syrian peace talks in Geneva. In 2017, he headed the Syrian opposition delegation at the Astana meeting.
