347,000 houses were damaged
NEW DELHI, December 3. /TASS/. More than 2,800 people have been killed in India due to natural disasters from April to November 2024, the republic’s ministry of home affairs stated in response to a request by members of parliament.
According to the agency, "2,803 people died from natural disasters, 347,000 houses were damaged, 58,835 livestock animals were lost, over one million hectares [2.5 million acres] of cultivated area were affected."
The ministry added that 148 billion rupees (roughly $1.7 billion) were allocated from the country’s National Disaster Response Fund to help the affected people.
