MEP says that Zelensky himself does not believe in military solution in Ukraine
In an interview with the Kyodo news agency, Zelensky admitted that the Ukrainian army was unable to retake the lost territories
BERLIN, December 3. /TASS/. Given that Vladimir Zelensky has recently acknowledged that it will be impossible to get back the territories Ukraine has lost by military means, the peace process needs to be launched, a member of the European Parliament, Harald Vilimsky, who heads the delegation of the Austrian Freedom Party in the EP, has said.
"It’s about time for European politicians to come to grips with reality and focus on achieving a ceasefire and engage in peace negotiations. It would be irresponsible to continue investing billions in the conflict. What’s more, since Zelensky himself does not believe in a military solution, it is time for the EU to pave the way for peace, and not continue to add fuel to the fire," the politician said in a news release.
In an interview with the Kyodo news agency, Zelensky admitted that the Ukrainian army was unable to retake the lost territories. He had previously insisted that Ukraine should continue the conflict until it restored the 1991 borders. In recent weeks both he and his chief of staff, Andrey Yermak, began to acknowledge that it was an unattainable aim.
