Trump’s victory changes nothing for Russia — TASS Director General
Trump had been the most challenging president for Russia since 2016, as his successor, Joe Biden, failed to surpass him in terms of sanctions imposed on Russia, Andrey Kondrashov said
SOCHI, December 3. /TASS/. Donald Trump’s victory changes nothing for Russia; it simply means another president has been elected, TASS Director General Andrey Kondrashov said during a meeting of the media working group at the Petersburg Dialogue forum in Sochi.
Trump won the US presidential election, which took place on November 5, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris. Previously, Trump served as US president from 2017 to 2021.
"Of course, we have long understood that Trump’s victory is only the election of a new president," Kondrashov said.
The Director General added that Trump had been the most challenging president for Russia since 2016, as his successor, Joe Biden, failed to surpass him in terms of sanctions imposed on Russia.
About the forum
The Petersburg Dialogue was established in 2001 under the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin and then-Chancellor of Germany Gerhard Schroeder to create a long-term, open exchange of opinions between politicians, figures from science and the arts, as well as representatives from business and civil society of the two countries. The forum aims to foster constructive cooperation between representatives from all sectors of both nations; it seeks not only to strengthen German-Russian relations and contribute to mutual understanding between the two countries but also to positively impact relations between Russia and the European Union.
