BEIJING, December 2. /TASS/ — The Chinese authorities hope that the parties to the conflict in Ukraine will practice restraint and that the situation will be resolved politically, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lin Jian said when commenting on the possible resumption of Russia’s nuclear tests.
"We hope that all parties involved [in the conflict] will maintain composure and exercise restraint, seeking to resolve the Ukrainian crisis politically, through dialogue and consultations," he said at a briefing, in response to a question from TASS about what China’s Foreign Ministry could comment on Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov’s claim that Russia is assessing the possibility of resuming nuclear tests.
The deputy foreign minister had earlier told TASS that, amid the US policy of escalation, there is consideration of resuming nuclear tests in Russia. According to him, the situation remains complex and "is being constantly evaluated." The Russian diplomat confirmed that there is a risk of a nuclear exchange.
