ISTANBUL, November 29. /TASS/. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed hope that the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel would remain stable, also stating that an immediate ceasefire is necessary in the Gaza Strip, in an interview with Turkey’s TRT World television.

"We want the truce between Israel and Lebanon to be lasting. An early ceasefire is also needed in Gaza, before it becomes home to even more orphans," he said, emphasizing that Turkey has advocated for a prompt peaceful settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from the very beginning.

"We are ready to extend our full cooperation to stop the genocide in Gaza and pave the road to sustainable peace," the Turkish leader emphasized.

A ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon, the first since the onset of military activities in October 2023, took effect on the morning of November 27. US President Joe Biden announced that the accord between Israel and the Hezbollah movement would allow the Lebanese army and state security forces to restore control over the country’s territory within 60 days. The Israeli military contingent will then be gradually withdrawn from Lebanon.
