The Palestinian leadership stressed the urgency of "accelerating the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2735"

CAIRO, November 27. /TASS/. The Palestinian leadership believes that the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Lebanon is a big step toward ending the violence in the Middle East, the Palestinian National Authority (PA), headquartered in the West Bank city of Ramallah, said in a statement.

"The PA hopes that the agreement between Lebanon and Israel will contribute to ending the violence and instability that the entire Middle East is suffering from due to Israeli policies that are leading the region toward collapse," the WAFA news agency pointed out, citing the statement.

The Palestinian leadership stressed the urgency of "accelerating the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2735," which calls for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the delivery of humanitarian aid to its population, and the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from the enclave. The statement also stresses the importance of promptly enabling the State of Palestine to assume full responsibility for governance in Gaza.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) expressed support for "Lebanon's stability and security" and emphasized the importance of "rebuilding what was destroyed during the fighting."

Earlier, Israel's political-military cabinet formally approved a ceasefire plan in Lebanon. Following this, US President Joe Biden announced that the agreements between Israel and the Shiite Hezbollah organization include provisions for Lebanese forces to regain control of their territory within 60 days. Israeli military units will then begin a gradual withdrawal from Lebanon, allowing civilians on both sides to return to their settlements and start reconstruction efforts.
