"The normal exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Russian companies do not target any third party, and should not be disrupted or interfered with by any third party," Spokesperson Mao Ning stressed

BEIJING, November 26. /TASS/. The European Union is resorting to double standards, imposing sanctions against Chinese companies for cooperation with Russian enterprises, China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning said at a briefing.

"As we speak, most countries, including European countries and the US, carry out trade with Russia. We urge the EU to refrain from applying double standard," Mao Ning said commenting on the EU's plans to introduce new restrictions against Chinese businesses for alleged support of the Russian defense industry.

"The normal exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Russian companies do not target any third party, and should not be disrupted or interfered with by any third party," she said.

Mao Ning recalled that Beijing has always opposed unilateral sanctions that are not based on international law and are not sanctioned by the UN Security Council.

"On the Ukraine issue, China is committed to promoting talks for peace," she said.

She also noted that China "has never provided weapons to parties to the conflict and strictly controls the export of dual-use articles, even drones for civilian use, and opposes using civilian drones for military purposes."

Earlier Bloomberg reported earlier that the European Union would propose imposing sanctions on several Chinese companies that allegedly helped Russian enterprises develop attack drones used against Ukraine.
