Russian, Kazakh leaders to take part in cooperation forum via video link

Vladimir Putin will arrive on a state visit to Astana on November 27 at Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's invitation, Kazakhstan’s presidential press service added

ASTANA, November 25. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will participate in a forum on interregional cooperation between the two countries via video link, Kazakhstan’s presidential press office reported.

The event is scheduled to take place in Ufa, Russia's Bashkortostan Region.

"During the visit, the parties will hold discussions at the highest level. The heads of state will attend the 20th Forum of Kazakhstan-Russia Interregional Cooperation via video link," the press service said.

Putin will arrive on a state visit to Astana on November 27 at Tokayev's invitation, the press service added. On November 28, Astana will also host a summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), which will be chaired by Tokayev. According to the Kazakh leader's press service, "delegations from the participating countries will discuss relevant issues of regional and international security" and adopt a number of documents during the meeting.

Earlier, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told TASS that the countries' leading media outlets would publish special articles ahead of the Russian president's visit to Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is an ally and close friend of Russia, and communication between the leaders of the two countries always contributes to their cooperation, Peskov noted.

Putin last visited Kazakhstan in November 2023. In July 2024, he attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Astana.
