NEW YORK, November 25. /TASS/. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tentatively approved a Lebanon ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah, CNN reported, citing sources.
Netanyahu approved the deal "in principle" on Sunday night, but Israel still has reservations over some of its details, according to the report.
The Israeli news website Ynet also reported earlier that Israel tentatively approved a proposed ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, and it is now subject to final endorsement by the cabinet.
On Sunday, Axios reporter Barak Ravid said on X, citing a source, that the US special envoy for the region Amos Hochstein threatened Israel with withdrawing his mediation efforts if the country does not respond positively to the ceasefire agreement proposal.
On September 23, Israel started a military operation codenamed Northern Arrows against Hezbollah in Lebanon, carrying out widespread strikes at the group’s military sites. The stated goal is to create a secure environment in areas near the Israeli northern border, so that tens of thousands of people could return to their homes. In the small hours of October 1, Israel announced the start of a ground operation in the border areas of southern Lebanon.
